Approved key messages
- Life Without Debt resolves consumer debt for people living with serious illness — free at the point of use, Australia-wide.
- Our beneficiary class is defined in our constitution (clause 4(a)): persons in Australia living with terminal, life-limiting, chronic or serious illness, plus their immediate families and primary carers.
- We do casework, not general information provision. Our value is that we act on the person's behalf until the debt is resolved.
- We do not act on mortgage debt, tax debt, or business debt. Consumer debt only.
- We are governed under ACNC Governance Standards. We publish our reporting methodology before the first Annual Impact Report is due (see /impact-reporting-template).
- We will not name or photograph an individual beneficiary in our communications without their fully informed, revocable, written consent.
What LWD is not
To help journalists avoid misdescription: Life Without Debt is not a debt-consolidation service, a credit-repair service, a debt-agreement administrator, a lender, or a financial-advice service. We are a charity that does casework advocacy on consumer debt for people living with serious illness. Where a beneficiary's needs sit outside our scope, we refer to appropriate specialists (financial counsellors, National Debt Helpline, Legal Aid, ASIC MoneySmart).
